MOROCCO AND CHINA SIGN JOINT BELT AND ROAD IMPLEMENTATION PLAN

On January 5, 2022, the convention on the Implementation Plan on Jointly Building the Belt and Road Initiative between China and Morocco was signed by the Vice-Chairman of the Chinese National Commission for Reform and Development (NCRD), Mr. Ning Jizhe and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Mr. Nasser Bourita during a videoconference.

First promoted by the Chinese President Xi Jinping in 2013, the Belt and Road initiative aims to enhance cooperation, openness and inclusion, and mutual learning. The convention on the Implementation Plan on Jointly Building the Belt and Rod Initiative will bring new impetus for deeper cooperation and mark a new era in Chinese-Moroccan relations by promoting access to the Chinese financing provided by the BRI.

The financial supports cover the establishment of large-scale projects in Morocco, the facilitation of trade and joint ventures in different fields such as industry, energy, research and development, technological and technical cooperation, and vocational training. China and Morocco have many contacts in the Waste to Energy field, it’s promising that more energy cooperation programs will be achieved and the expansion of green business from China to Morocco will be accelerated in the foreseeable future.
