  • Wonderful presentations by experts of ICCWtE

The 6th International Training Workshop of Waste to Energy was hosted by Zhejiang University, jointly organized by Zhejiang University of Technology and International Consultant Committee of Waste to Energy (ICCWtE), and four Chinese leading industrial enterprises on waste to energy. It has been 6 days since the workshop started on Oct. 18th.

A total of 5 experts of the International Consultant of Waste to Energy (ICCWtE), namely professor Xiaodong Li of Zhejiang University, professor Herri Susanto of the Bandung University of Technology in Indonesia, professor Mika Horttanainen of Lappeenranta-Lahti University of Technology in Finland, associate Professor Johann Fellner of Vienna University of Technology in Austria and associate Professor Mi Yan of Zhejiang University of Technology, each have made wonderful presentations. The topics are as follows "Municipal Solid Waste Incineration and Its Application in China", "Pyrolysis and Gasification of Biomass", "the Determination of Fossil Carbon (CO2) Emissions from Waste Incineration", "Material Recovery and Rrecycling of Waste in Europe - Examples Cases of Recovery and Impacts" and "Pollutant Emission Control from MSWI and Leachate Treatment".

Meanwhile, 34 trainees from 13 countries take an active role in lectures. The committee members interacted in lectures and patiently answered the questions raised by the students. At the time Prof. Johann Fellner illustrated the Balance Method and Adapted Balance Method, several trainees put forward the applicability of the methodologies in different industries and the significance of discussing the cost. Then the professor explained in detail that the Balance Method can apply to waste-to-energu plants but the Adapted Balance Method is applicable to solid waste and refuse derives fuels (RDF). And the comprehensive factors of accuracy, cost and time of various methodologies will determine the availability.

One of the target of the 6th International Training Workshop of Waste to Energy is to provide a platform between experts of ICCWtE and others and members from various countries to share scientific/technical training and lectures/guidance on WtE upon request. Experts made grest contributions to the training workshop through their lectures. Their excellent presentations gave trainees insight into waste to energy researched, built a great communication bridge with experts and deepened the international scientific and technological exchanges and cooperation.
