Jiangmen issued the Special Plan for Environmental Sanitation of Jiangmen (2021-2035)

Environmental health management is an important part of urban management and an important basic work for each city to consolidate the title of national civilized City and National Healthy City. In recent years, with the continuous development of economy and society, the scale of Chinese cities continues to expand, the urban population continues to grow, and environmental health management is increasingly under pressure. Recently, Jiangmen City issued the Special Environmental Sanitation Plan of Jiangmen City (2021-2035) (hereinafter referred to as the Sanitation Plan).

The "sanitation plan" defines a series of goals:

(1) The city should establish and improve the classification and transportation system of household garbage.

(2) By the end of 2023, the proportion of domestic waste incineration has increased significantly.

(3) By 2035, the utilization rate of urban solid waste will not be lower than 80 percent, the harmless treatment rate of urban and rural household garbage will be maintained at 100%.

According to the Environmental Sanitation Plan, by 2025, Jiangmen City will produce 5,444 tons of household waste per day. The main source of household waste treatment will be incineration. Besides recyclables, kitchen waste and hazardous waste, about 4,013 tons of household waste will be incinerated per day. In order to meet the sudden growth of demand as an important part of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, waste incineration facilities in Jiangmen will need to be set aside in 2035.
