A list of 10 major events for China's ecological progress in 2020
The China Association for the Study and Promotion of Ecological Civilization has released a list of 10 major events in China's ecological civilization construction in 2020.
These ten major events are: the 14th Five-Year Plan Recommendations set new goals for ecological progress; China put forward carbon peak, carbon neutral target and time point; The Guiding Opinions on Building a Modern Environmental Governance System was published. "2020 Seminar on Studying and Implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Ecological Civilization"; The legal system for ecological progress has been continuously enriched and improved. The nine binding targets for ecological and environmental protection set out in the Outline of the 13th Five-Year Plan and the phased targets for the critical battle against pollution were exceeded. The Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee reviewed the Outline of the Plan for Ecological Protection and High-quality Development of the Yellow River Basin, and the implementation of major national strategies was accelerated. It will resolutely curb the conversion of arable land into non-agricultural land and maintain the red line on arable land. The National Master Plan for Major Projects for the Protection and Restoration of Major Ecosystems (2021-2035) was published. 1. The Proposals of the 14th Five-Year Plan put forward new objectives for ecological civilization construction
The Fifth Plenary Session of the 19th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) was held in Beijing on October 26, 2020. The plenum examined and adopted the "proposal of the CPC Central Committee on formulating the 14th Five-Year Plan for National Economic and Social Development and the long-term goals for the year 2035." 2. China has put forward the target and time point of carbon peak and carbon neutrality
On September 22, 2020, President Xi Jinping delivered an important speech at the General Debate of the 75th Session of the UN General Assembly, stating that China will increase its nationally determined contributions, adopt more effective policies and measures, strive to reach the peak of carbon dioxide emissions by 2030, and strive to achieve carbon neutrality by 2060.

3. The Guiding Opinions on Building a Modern Environmental Governance System was published

Experts and representatives attending the meeting conducted extensive discussions and exchanges on the in-depth study and implementation of Xi Jinping's Thought on Ecological Civilization, and formed a series of in-depth and valuable views and achievements.
5. The legal system for ecological progress has been continuously enriched and improved
The Civil Code of the People's Republic of China was adopted at the Third Session of the Standing Committee of the 13th National People's Congress on May 28, 2020, and will come into force on January 1, 2021. We need to take a long-term view of reducing flood and drought disasters in the Yellow River, strengthen scientific research, improve the disaster prevention and mitigation system, and enhance our ability to respond to various disasters. We should take effective measures to promote high-quality development in the Yellow River basin, speed up the replacement of old growth drivers with new ones, develop a modern industrial system with distinctive features and advantages, improve the pattern of urban development, and promote rural revitalization. We should vigorously protect and carry forward the culture of the Yellow River, continue its historical context, explore the value of The Times, and strengthen our cultural confidence. On November 30, 2020, by the environment and resources protection committee of the National People's Congress, population resources and environment committee of the CPPCC national committee, ecological environment, the state administration of radio, television and so on six departments jointly organized, the United Nations environment programme (unep) special support of "green China 2018-2019 person of the year" selection obtained from activities, won the honorary title of 10 collectives and individuals.
On the same day, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment released the list of the fourth batch of national demonstration cities and counties for ecological civilization construction and the practice and innovation bases of "lucid waters and green mountains are golden mountains and silver mountains". 87 demonstration cities and counties and 35 practice and innovation bases were commended and awarded awards.
