  • Waste incineration industry: 15 years of rapid development of five significant changes

After about 15 years of rapid development, the main contradiction of China's waste incineration power generation industry has been transferred from the old problems such as NIMBY problems and insufficient capacity to new problems such as project reduction, scale reduction, electricity tariff reduction, payment delay, and overcapacity, although the policy is still conducive to the medium and long-term development of the waste incineration power generation industry, but the development speed has slowed down significantly. The core enterprises engaged in waste incineration power generation have completed the "horse racing" market competition in large and medium-sized cities, and the main front in the future will focus on the "five extensions", that is, extending from cities to counties and towns, extending from the first phase to the second and third phases, extending from a single project to industrial parks, extending from waste incineration to solid waste collaborative incineration, and extending from the domestic market to the Southeast Asian and Central Asian markets. In the background of subsidy decline and overcapacity, high efficiency is the inevitable development trend of waste incineration power generation industry, but also the main means of industrial self-help and enterprise profit, the efficiency of waste incineration industry mainly includes the following nine ways: Improving quality and efficiency, reducing cost and efficiency, energy saving and efficiency, collaborative treatment and efficiency, upgrading and upgrading, optimizing assets and subsidies, enhancing park construction and refining management, etc., among which collaborative treatment and upgrading are the key points. The reduction of new projects, large projects and good projects has become a foregone conclusion, and the expansion of new projects can no longer meet the development needs of the leading enterprises. Merger and integration at this stage will certainly be another important development trend of the waste incineration power generation industry. The recent large-scale merger and acquisition case of Hanlan Environmental planning to privatize Yuefeng Environmental Protection is very eye-catching. In the next few years, similar large-scale mergers and acquisitions will continue to appear, and the entire waste incineration power generation industry will be more centralized through reshuffle and optimization, which is not only the inevitable result of market competition, but also an important sign of industry maturity. The "14th Five-Year Plan" planning goal is about 800,000 tons/day and about 65% of the scale, this planning goal has been completed ahead of schedule, the current waste incineration capacity in China has been close to 1.1 million tons/day, accounting for about 65% of the global total waste incineration capacity. In the next 10 years or longer, the main battlefield of China's waste incineration power generation industry is in small and medium-sized towns, in upgrading, in collaborative processing, in bulk mergers and acquisitions, and in Southeast Asia and Central Asia.
