The 8th International Training Workshop on Waste-to-Energy Successfully Commences
On October 28th, 2024, the 8th International Training Workshop of Waste to Energy, co-sponsored by the International Consultant Committee on Waste-to-Energy (ICCWtE) and hosted by the Advanced Energy International Joint Research Center of Zhejiang University, was inaugurated with great acclaim in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province of China. Over 60 attendees including organizers, international scholars, representatives from leading domestic waste-to-energy companies and representatives of the Global Waste to Energy Research and Technology Council (WtERT) gathered together to commemorate the illustrious opening ceremony.
This year’s workshop received an impressive 150 applications from 33 nations spanning Asia, Africa, South America and Europe. 20 distinguished participants from 15 countries, including Algeria, Cambodia, Egypt, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Mongolia, Morocco, Nigeria, Oman, Peru, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Thailand and Vietnam, were selected to engage an intensive 15-day training curriculum. The program encompasses an array of critical topics, including China’s waste management frameworks and polices, waste characteristics and advancement treatment technologies, pollutant control mechanisms, waste incineration plant design, operational strategies and sustainable business models. Participants will also conduct in-depth field studies to gain firsthand experience with China’s pioneering waste-to-energy technologies.
Since its establishment in 2016, the International Training Workshop on Waste-to-Energy has successfully trained 186 trainees from 34 countries, including government agencies, universities, research institutes, enterprises, and non-governmental organizations. This annual program has cultivated substantial international influence achieving demonstrable impacts in knowledge dissemination and professional practice.
As an integral component of ICCWtE’s mission, the 8th training workshop is co-hosted by Professor Xiaodong Li, founder of ICCWtE from Zhejiang University, alongside Professor Mi Yan from Zhejiang University of Technology, Vice Chairman of ICCWTE. ICCWtE Chairman Prof. Agamutu Pariatamby, together with distinguished members Prof. Herri Susanto, Dr. Hao Zhang, Dr. Angjian Wu and Dr. Xiaoqing Lin will offer invaluable insights and expert lectures, underpinning the workshop’s commitment to excellence and knowledge exchange.
