The invisible "underground line of defense": screening for pollution hazards in domestic landfills
A landfill is not simply a "big hole," but a complex environmental engineering system. Among them, the most critical line of defense is the impervious layer made of high-density polyethylene membrane (HDPE membrane), which acts as the "raincoat" of the earth, preventing harmful waste leachate from seeping into the soil and groundwater.
However, this line of defence is not solid. Today, we will take a closer look at how to conduct physical examination and clearance for this "underground defense line."
