On November 2, 2026, the 10th International Training Workshop on Waste to Energy officially opened in Hangzhou, China. Co-organized by the International Consultant Committee on Waste-to-Energy (ICCWtE) and organized by the Advanced Energy International Joint Research Center of Zhejiang University, the opening ceremony was presided over by Prof. Qunxing Huang, Executive Chair of the Global Waste-to-Energy Research and Technology Council (WtERT). More than 60 attendees took part in the event, comprising international scholars, representatives from leading waste-to-energy enterprises, course instructors and overseas trainees.

This year's workshop attracted over 130 applications across 21 nations in Asia, Africa, South America, and East Europe. Ultimately, 21 delegates from 15 countries—including Algeria, Brazil, Chile, Egypt, Ghana, India, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Mongolia, Montenegro, Morocco, Nepal, the Philippines, and Thailand—were selected for the intensive 15-day training.

The comprehensive curriculum covers critical domains such as China’s waste management frameworks and policies, waste characteristics, advanced treatment technologies, pollutant control mechanisms, plant design, operational strategies, and sustainable business models. Participants will also undertake technical field studies to experience China’s cutting-edge waste-to-energy innovations firsthand.
