Asia's largest waste pyrolysis and gasification project by China has been connected to the grid
On January 8, 2021, the Surabaya waste pyrolysis and gasification project designed by China United Engineering Co., Ltd. (herein after referred to as "China United") in Indonesia was successfully connected to the grid for power generation. This is the first waste power generation project built and successfully generated power in Indonesia, and also the largest waste pyrolysis and gasification power generation project in Asia.
Indonesia's annual waste growth is 5.9 million tons. Jakarta, for example, produces at least 8,000 tons of plastic waste every day, most of which ends up in the ocean, causing serious pollution. Indonesia has entered a "state of emergency" in the quality of its Marine environment, Marine biosecurity and coastal population health.
This project is another practical example of China's joint participation in green "One Belt And One Road" construction and providing leading urban environmental comprehensive services for Southeast Asian countries. The total scale of the project is to treat 750 tons of domestic waste per day, with 6 sets of pyrolytic gasifiers with a treatment capacity of 125 tons per day, 3 sets of secondary combustion chambers, 3 sets of medium-temperature and medium-pressure waste heat boilers, and 2 sets of 6MW pure condensed-type steam turbine generators.
