The 5th International Training Workshop of Waste to Energy successfully closed at Zhejiang University, China
On October 26th, the 5th International Training Workshop of Waste to Energy hosted by the Ministry of Science and Technology of China and jointly organized by Zhejiang University and Zhejiang University of Technology was held online and concluded successfully. This workshop trained 27 participants from 12 countries, including Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Mauritius, Morocco, Myanmar, Nigeria, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Thailand. The training content covered various aspects of waste to energy, including incineration technology and equipment, operation management, business model, avoidance of NIMBY issue, policies and regulations related to waste treatment and disposal. New teaching modes such as "Virtual Tour" of waste incineration plants were organized. The workshop has also received great support from the International Consultant Committee of Waste to Energy (ICCWtE) and 4 leading waste-to-energy enterprises in China. For instance, Shanghai SUS Environment Co., Ltd., China Everbright Environment Group Limited, Zheneng Jinjiang Environment Co., Ltd. and China Tianying Inc. provided rich and detailed reports for students in VR cloud visit, operation management experience, response to neighbor avoidance effect, AI intelligence, waste sorting, plasma melting, etc.
This workshop is the fifth edition since 2016. Its international influence continues to expand. So far, 118 trainees from 22 developing countries in Asia, Africa and South America have been trained. It has contributed to the cooperation of different member countries, and has significantly improved the international level of China's waste to energy enterprises.
