  • The United States has become the second country in the world with Internet information on waste incineration

On June 11, 2022, Covanta, the leading enterprise of waste incineration in the United States, published the daily average of flue gas emission of some of its waste incineration projects on its global official website, with a total of 16 incineration projects including 48 furnaces.

The release of Covanta is five years later than that of China Everbright Environment Group Limited, and two years and five months later than that of the real-time disclosure system of waste incineration flue gas of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment.

China Everbright Environment Group Limited in May 2016, in the environmental management column of the official website on the day before the operation of each garbage power generation project indicators disclosure. The disclosure content includes the daily mean value of the online monitoring index of flue gas, the detection value of the leachate effluent index, and the detection value of the thermal reduction rate of slag.

At present, China's waste incineration enterprises, through the open Internet platform of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, have disclosed the previous day's smoke data and furnace temperature data of 802 projects, and the total number of publicly disclosed incinerators is 1,807.

Cavanta has 48 furnaces in 16 projects, while 21 projects in the United States and two projects in Canada have yet to be disclosed. Other domestic waste incineration enterprises in the United States, so far no public signs have been found. The first category is the flue gas index (PPM), and the second category is the basic information of the enterprise, which only includes the project address, the average annual waste disposal volume and the power generation of the project.

China's waste incineration project disclosure, the key indicators are richer, a total of four categories. The first category is the flue gas index of five pollutants. The second category is the mean value of furnace temperature for five consecutive minutes, and whether to stop the furnace and fault information. The third category is the basic information of the project, including the project's business registration name, precise address, contact information of the project legal person and the person in charge of environmental protection, the start time of the project operation, and the installed capacity of the generator. The fourth category is the basic information of the incinerator, including the furnace type, daily treatment scale, and the starting time of the operation of the furnace.
