  • 3rd International Young Scientists Symposium on Waste Management and Disposal Technology was successfully held

    Following the fruitful 1st and 2nd symposiums, the 3rd International Young Scientists Symposium on Waste Management and Disposal Technology was successfully held in August 19th-20th, 2022, by Zhejiang University of Technology via virtual meeting. The 2-day symposium attracted over 110 experts and young scientists from China (42), Malaysia, India, Indonesia, Japan, Sudan, Pakistan and Thailand. Dr. Mi Yan chaired this symposium.

    This symposium was divided into 5 subtopic sessions, including “biowaste to energy”, “Simulation and evaluation of waste”, “Biotechnology and material recovery from waste”, “Typical waste generation and treatment” and “Pollution control during waste management and disposal”. There were 28 oral presentations, including two plenary speeches from Prof. Xiaodong Li, Zhejiang University and Prof. Agamuthu Pariatamby, Sunway University. The young scientists freely presented and discussed their work and knowledge in waste management and disposal technology. They also warmly exchanged their experience in personal work and career, and speak highly of the well-organized symposium.

    This symposium was also co-organized by Thammasat University (Thailand), Institut Teknologi Bandung (Indonesia), Universiti Malaya (Malaysia), Sunway University (Malaysia), National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (India), Universitas Indonesia (Indonesia), PMAS-Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi (Pakistan) and Kasetsart University (Thailand). It was supported by the Department of International Cooperation, the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People’s Republic of China, and the China Science and Technology Exchange Center. Actually, 6 board members from the International Consultant Committee of Waste to Energy were involved in this symposium. After the discussion of the committee, it is announced that the 4th International Young Scientists Symposium on Waste Management and Disposal Technology will be held by Universiti Malaya (Malaysia).
