  • The 7th International Training Workshop on Waste to Energy Successfully Commenced

    On October 25th 2023, the opening ceremony of the 7th International Training Workshop of Waste to Energy was successfully held in Hangzhou. The officers from Zhejiang Provincial Science and Technology Exchange and Talent Service Center, Professors from Zhejiang University and Zhejiang University of Technology, Mr. Reda Kabbaj, Vice President of the International Waste to Energy Research and Technology Council (WtERT), more than 30 international participants from 21 countries, and representatives from leading domestic waste to energy conversion companies, totally more than 60 participants, attended the opening ceremony. Prof. Xiaodong Li, chair of the workshop and International Consultant Committee of Waste to Energy (ICCWtE) from the Institute of Thermal Energy Engineering, Zhejiang University, hosted the opening ceremony.

    The International Training Workshop on Waste to Energy has been held annually since 2016. The previous six workshops trained 151 trainees from 27 countries, including government agencies, universities, research institutes, enterprises, and non-governmental organizations. This has created significant international influence and achieved tangible results. The current training workshop received nearly a hundred applications from 25 countries in Asia, Africa, Europe and America.

    Participants will undergo a 15-day training program covering topics including waste management status and policy framework in China, waste characteristics and treatment technology, pollutant control, design of waste incineration plants, operation management, and business models.

    Moreover, the 7th International Training Workshop on Waste to Energy is funded by the Ministry of Science and Technology's foreign aid training program, hosted by Zhejiang University and co-hosted by Zhejiang University of Technology and the International Consultation Committee on Waste to Energy (ICCWtE). Additionally, the workshop is also strongly supported and sponsored by Shanghai SUS Environment Co., Ltd., China Everbright Environment Group Ltd., China Zheneng Jinjiang Environment Co., Ltd., China City Environment Protection Engineering Limited Company, and Hangzhou Energy Society.
